Film London - Audience data collection, analysis and support pilot
This report provides the key findings from a pilot project funded by Film London and undertaken by Audiences London. The project was aimed at improving improving audience information collection and monitoring activities with a selection of their funded clients.
The outcomes of the project included:
- a pilot benchmark drawing on data from six film festivals
- individual analysis and reporting on audience data for each of the festivals
- skills development for staff and volunteers involved with the festivals
- tools that can be adapted and used in future monitoring activities
It involved collection of audience data between April 2007 and April 2008, from six film festivals:
- Black Film Makers
- Chinese Film Festival
- East End Film Festival
- London International Disability Film Festival
- UK Jewish Film Festival
- Women's Cinema from Tangiers to Tehran
The project also provided a programme of support to a wider set of organisations, in the form of one-to-one advice surgeries on audience monitoring, tools for collecting and inputting audience data.
