25 January 2012 Advice for Audience Research at Festivals and Outdoor Events
Measuring and evidencing the impact of an outdoor event can be harder than with other artforms, because of often widespread locations and the fact that many such events are unticketed.
We have produced a new set of guidelines for audience research at outdoor events, designed specifically to support the unprecedented activities and opportunities of 2012. On 24 January 2012, we ran a free symposium to share these guidelines with the outdoor arts sector and below you can find many of the resources from that event.

Recent data analysis undertaken by Audiences London reveals that in the main men and women are looking for different benefits from their arts attendance. The social motivations of females compared to the more focused and solitary engagement of males indicates that females appear to be more engaged and frequent. This work suggests what we might do differently to increase men’s engagement with culture.

This resource features twelve of the latest arts engagement projects working with older people and families in London. These projects have all taken an exploratory approach to connecting with people through engagement with the arts and received funding from Arts Council England.
6 April 2011 FUSE: effective working with young people
An evaluation of the FUSE arts festival for young people, which happened in Kensington Gardens last July, shows that this experimental event effectively established ways of working with young people. Audiences London was commissioned by The Royal Parks to provide youth engagement support - through which the event was designed with a panel of 12 young people aged between 13 and 21.
