Inspiring families through museums, libraries and archives
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council commissioned this publication in 2008 to help museums, libraries and archives to think about families and learning in a strategic way.
It is aimed at managers and practitioners in museums, libraries and archives and family learning services, whether funded through local authorities or the voluntary sector. It aims to encourage collaboration and partnership in a rapidly changing environment.
The document includes case studies, guidance on gathering data and evidence and information on related policy issues.
Case studies include Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester; 'Every Object Tells a Story' in Sheffield; and examples from Hertfordshire, Dorset, Kent, Manchester and Newcastle.
It concludes with a checklist outlining a number of activities that you could undertake
to develop your practice further.
