2012 News from Audiences London

Happy new year! 2012 is off to a whirlwind start and AL has some ambitious new year's resolutions, including lots of exciting new events, services and partnerships. Keep an eye on our newsletters and Twitter (@audienceslondon) to follow the latest developments.

Audience Candy

We wanted to start this year by reflecting on how far we have come. In 2011:

  • AL worked with over 400 arts, heritage and other cultural organisations from across London, the UK and abroad.
  • Nearly 300 people attended our programme of events to support learning and development, including seminars, symposia and networking sessions.
  • We produced 15 reports and resources sharing knowledge across the sector on topics including managing change, audience gender and engagement with older people, young people and families.
  • We ran 11 major collaborative projects including Snapshot for Visual Arts and Performing Arts, national audience monitoring for the MLA and a collaborative marketing campaign for orchestras.

NCA UK Arts Index now available to all

We helped the National Campaign for the Arts produce their inaugural UK Arts Index, which was presented in parliament in December 2011 and is now freely available online. The Index is a health-check for the state of the arts and plots trends in tickets sales, corporate sponsorship, philanthropy and public sector funding, as well as other performance measures such as attendance levels for adults and young people, satisfaction levels and the number of people volunteering in the arts.
