Monitoring Audience Diversity

Year: 2008

Guidelines for building a visitor profile and how to support the development of a more diverse audience.

Diversity monitoring is about understanding whether you are serving all sections of society equally, and if not, what you can do about it. Ideally, monitoring is about more than reporting to funders and other stakeholders; it is a process through which you come to see your organisation as others really see you. These Guidelines are based on a research project which consulted a range of cultural organisations of all shapes and sizes, therefore the advice within acknowledges that there is no one size fits all methodology for this process. The guidelines give extensive information on the philosophical and practical aspects of monitoring.
